West Highland Way -Travel-Lite
Inveroran to Kingshouse - 9 1/2 miles (15.25 km)
The next section of the West Highland Way is one of the most exposed. It's wide open all the way down to Kingshouse. After a good mile along the way, the track is good, but a little broken up in places. Considering it was laid in the 1700s that's not too bad at all
The old military road takes you to Victoria Bridge then to Forest Lodge. The main features of this stretch are Coire Ba, Ba Bridge and Ba Cottage. Coire Ba is a gigantic corrie, with great ridges running down to the lower levels. Ba Bridge crosses the gully where the river rushes between upturned slabs of pinkish orange granite. Ba cottage is now a ruin on the old Glencoe road.
The Black Mount estate was acquired by the Fleming family, and up on the moor to the left as you reach the highest point you will see a stone monument. This is a memorial to Peter Fleming, the travel writer, brother to Ian Fleming who created the James Bond books.
Very soon you arrive at the Ski Centre with its chair lift, and the track meets the road near Blackrock cottage. Moving down the hill to the right, you walk across the main Glencoe road to complete the short walk along the highland way to the Kingshouse Hotel.
